The Lions Quest workshop at Bishop Walsh School in Cumberland was conducted August 24-25, 2009, with 28 teachers completing the grades 6-8 and 9-12 certifications. District Governor Robert Disinger, Immediate Past District Governor Susan Timmons, Cabinet Secretary Paul Cannada, and Lions from LaVale, Frostburg, Lonaconing, and Potomac Valley assisted in the workshop. The emphasis being placed on the service learning curriculum bodes well for organizations like Lions Clubs, as students adopt a lifelong attitude of service. I do want to appeal to the clubs in District 22-W to consider contributing some financial support to the Lions Quest program. As of now, we have raised 58% of the required local funding match, set by LCIF when they structured our grant. Donations can be made out to the District 22-W Lions Quest Program, and sent to Cabinet Treasurer Donald Bartgis for deposit. Your participation is an investment in the youth of our District!
