The
Smithsburg Lions Club “Everyday Hero” is Ray Killian. Lion
Ray has been a member of the Smithsburg Lions Club since
1987. He has been a director for several years, served on
the Scholarship and Membership Committees, and is a Greeter.
Lion Ray has organized the Blood Drives in Smithsburg for
many years. He distributes posters to the area merchants
to
advertise the blood drives. He and his wife, Arlene, greet and register
donors. Lion Ray purchases refreshments and assists donors
from the donation area to the refreshment area.
Lion
Ray is there from the start to the finish. Lion Ray is
mostly known for being the “Candy Man” for the Club’s Vision
Days. He contacts the local Food Lion grocery store
for permission to give candy to the patrons. Lion Ray
helps on both days and always stays longer than his
assigned time.
Lion Ray is always ready to assist in community service
projects and fund-raising events for the Club. We can
always count on Lion Ray to be at meetings and at all Club
activities.
